Ever feel like you were drowning in the abyss of life’s demands?
Homework, rules, parents, grades, failure, romance, peer pressure, the need to fit in, puberty, appearance, friends, happiness …
The list goes on and on. We all face the same harsh realities.
It doesn’t matter if you were born to play football or write poetry; born to lead pep rallies or lead debates; to be homecoming queen or valedictorian.
Or maybe you just feel lucky to have made it through another school year.
Let’s face it--It’s hard. Life is challenging.
Once we get through the atrocities of high school, we’re flung into the real world--on our own, left to fend for ourselves and survive.
No one is exempt from the struggles. No one gets to say “Let me off this roller coaster, I’m getting sick.”
We’re stuck on this ride together. Isn’t it time we look to one another for support? Isn’t it time we rely on our brothers and sisters, instead of calling names, or making threats, or inflicting pain?
Enough is enough.
Bullies are so yesterday--so tired and lame.
What we need is a better tomorrow, a brighter future where kids of all ages can rely on each other to stick up for what’s right.
It’s up to us--the future generations.
We have to work together to show the bullies we will NOT allow it to continue.
This is a place where you can come to find strength, a place where you can be yourself and no one will judge you;
A place for friends who do what’s right, who defend each other, who let the bullies know they cannot win.
Because all teens deserve love and respect and consideration.
Because we know better than to treat others badly.
And because we have risen above the rest, we can FLOAT.
Take the pledge and stand up for what’s right, stand up for each other.
All are welcome: bookworms, athletes, geeks, rich, poor, smart, shy, loud, anorexics, overweight, straights, gays, goths, rednecks , etc., etc. …
It doesn’t matter.
We all have different strengths and weaknesses.
And by putting them together, we grow as a whole.
There are times when we all need a friend to defend us and help get us through.
Take the pledge and show you’re on board--Show the world that we won’t stand for hatred or violence or ridicule.
We are brothers and sisters of this planet.
We need each other.
Let’s make our schools and communities a bully free zone--where the bullies are reminded every day that their hatred is not welcome.
We must stand together.
Stand with me, and fight for your right to be yourself.
Together, we can make a difference.
Together, we will FLOAT above the rest.
